ABOUT

Padiuns

Snarg.png

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:

Known surviving Padiuns display distinctly aquatic features. Oppo is described with blue skin, blazing yellow cat-like eyes, and whiskers, immediately marking him as unusual among surface peoples.

TRAITS / TEMPERMENT:

Composed, observant, disciplined, and difficult to unsettle. Life beneath the waters has fostered a people who value patience over haste and precision over spectacle. Padiuns tend to speak deliberately, watch carefully, and place great importance on self-control. They are deeply aware of their surroundings and often appear reserved to surface-dwellers, though among their own people they are expressive, artistic, and strongly communal.

ABILITIES / ADAPTATION:

They are aquatic or heavily adapted to life around water. The manuscript implies that extended life away from the sea is unusual enough for Bengent to ask Oppo how he manages it.

SOCIETY / CULTURE:

Padiuns were technologically advanced in the manipulation of pressure, gas, and oceanic forces. Their civilization developed specialized techniques based upon the deep-sea environment.

RELATIONS WITH OTHERS:

Padiuns historically maintain a degree of separation from surface peoples, shaped as much by environment as by culture. Trade and diplomacy occur where land and water meet, but few outsiders truly understand Padiun society. The destruction of Padiun remains part of the kingdom's collective memory, giving them a shared history with Rialta's other peoples while also reinforcing a strong instinct for self-reliance and preservation.

HISTORY / LORE:

Padiuns were believed to descend from the ancient Great Razormaw fish. Their great oceanic city was ultimately destroyed or claimed when Uliss came seeking the remains of her fallen kin beneath Padiun.
