ABOUT

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Meetbugs are small, brilliantly colored insects with vivid shells and four translucent green wings. Their compact bodies are light enough for rapid, highly maneuverable flight, and their bright coloration makes them easy to follow at close range. Bengent’s meetbug is specifically described as bright pink with four green wings and a vibrant shell.
ABILITIES / ADAPTATIONS:
Their greatest adaptation is exceptional aerial maneuverability. A meetbug can negotiate narrow streets, crowds, gates, and natural obstacles while maintaining a consistent heading. They also appear to possess strong environmental judgment; Edwin considers it highly unusual that one would voluntarily land on a dangerously hot surface, implying reliable sensitivity to heat and other hazards.

ORIGIN / HABITAT:
TRAITS / BEHAVIOR:
Meetbugs are quick, agile flyers capable of weaving through dense crowds and around obstacles without losing speed. They are naturally skittish and will flee quickly when startled or released. Their usefulness to Rialtans comes from their ability to guide a person toward a predetermined destination or individual; Thomrick specifically places one in Bengent’s pack to lead him to Edwin.
HISTORY / LORE:
Meetbugs are sufficiently common and useful that travelers can carry them in small jars, and Edwin possesses one of his own. Bengent’s meetbug plays an important role during his Trial of Ascension by leading him toward Edwin after he leaves Cinfeld Heights. Its accidental escape ultimately becomes consequential when it lands on an anomalously heated rock and dies, providing Bengent and Edwin with an early clue that something unusual is occurring.
