ABOUT

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Plikes are short, squat, pig-like creatures with thick barrel-shaped bodies, stubby legs, and broad flattened snouts. Their hides are usually hairless or sparsely bristled and may range from muddy rose and brown to strange bluish-grey or mottled tones. Large fleshy ears jut from the sides of the head, while small dark eyes sit beneath heavy folds of skin. A plike’s mouth is filled with flat crushing teeth and a pair of undersized tusks that protrude awkwardly from its lower jaw, giving the animal a permanently disgruntled expression. Their curled tails are unusually thick and muscular, often twitching when agitated.
ABILITIES / ADAPTATIONS:
Their low center of gravity and dense musculature make plikes surprisingly difficult to knock over. Thick hides protect them from rough terrain and minor injuries, while powerful jaws allow them to chew through roots, shell-covered foods, and other hard material. They can also produce a startlingly loud squeal when threatened.

ALTERNATE NAME:

DIET:
ORIGIN / HABITAT:
TRAITS / BEHAVIOR:
Plikes are stubborn, noisy, gluttonous, and remarkably difficult to frighten. They spend much of their time rooting through soil, refuse, and vegetation in search of anything remotely edible. Though not especially intelligent, they possess an uncanny talent for escaping pens, overturning containers, and getting into places they do not belong. Because of their comical proportions and voracious appetites, Rialtans frequently use “plike” as a teasing insult for someone being greedy, clumsy, or obstinate
HISTORY / LORE:
Plikes are among Rialta’s more common domestic and semi-wild animals. They are raised for food in some regions and tolerated as scavengers in others. Though rarely considered dangerous, an angry adult plike can deliver a painful charge or bite when cornered.
