Annla Portrait.png

Physical Description

A young man of average height with a thin yet broad-chested build. Bengent has dark cocoa eyes, strongly arched brows, and an intensity reminiscent of his father, while the rest of his features resemble Annla more closely. He is often dressed in fine white linen befitting his station, though his journey quickly places him in far rougher attire and circumstances.

Abilities / Skills

Bengent is trained as the future ruler of Rialta and begins the Trials of Ascension, a demanding program intended to test mind, body, and spirit through scholarship, combat training, military theory, diplomacy, law, metallurgy, dragon lore, and a final test of character and resourcefulness. He also carries Thomrick’s old Eversteel hammer and demonstrates artistic talent and a natural affinity for creative expression.

Bengent

Personality

Sensitive, compassionate, curious, dutiful, creative, and idealistic. Bengent feels the immense weight of his father’s expectations but does not naturally share Thomrick’s rigidity. His empathy repeatedly draws him toward people and creatures others dismiss, and his emotional nature becomes one of his greatest strengths rather than a flaw. He is thoughtful enough to question what he has been taught, but loyal enough that those discoveries often create genuine inner conflict.

History / lore

Raised as the intended successor to Thomrick, Bengent grows up under extraordinary expectations. At eighteen spins, he formally accepts the Trials of Ascension and begins the journey meant to prove whether he is worthy to become the next king.

Because he has not bonded with a shadowrunner, Thomrick arranges an elaborate deception to protect him: a royal caravan serves as a diversion while Bengent leaves Cinfeld Heights in disguise and travels to meet Edwin. That departure marks the beginning of a journey that forces Bengent to confront not only danger, but also long-held assumptions about his family, Eversteel, dragons, and the kingdom itself.

Along the way, Bengent is repeatedly challenged to decide whether duty means preserving the path laid before him or becoming the kind of man capable of choosing his own. Thomrick’s own letter makes clear that Bengent was raised with the hope that he would someday become a better king than his father believed himself capable of being.
